Arrowsmith Search & Rescue

now working with Project Lifesaver.

Project Lifsaver is a programme to track and rescue seniors and others with cognitive issues who tend to wander away from their homes.  The client is fitted with a wristwatch sized transmitter set up with its' own unique frequency.  If the person wanders away, their caregiver can notify the RCMP, who in turn call Arrowsmith SAR.  We then respond using a special tracking receiver, which picks up the signal that is constantly transmitted from the person's wristband.

The service will be available in late November.  Families and caregivers can contact D'Arcy Falkiner at 250-594-5488 for information on signing up their loved ones.

You can also contact Project Lifesaver at 1-877-580-5433, or visit them at their website, www.projectlifesaver.org

More information coming soon.

Children's Outdoor Safety Program:

ASAR provides a free children's safety program called Hug-A-Tree. Hug-A-Tree is a program that is set-up to teach children 5-12 years of age, the basic survival skills they will need if they ever get lost in the woods. This program also teaches children some of the things they can do to ensure they don't get lost.

Hug-A-Tree is presented to Elementary Schools and other children's groups. The average audience of this programme is close to 2000 a year. The RCMP has some more information about the programme on their website:  The Hug a Tree link is:  http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/hugtree-presarbre/prog-eng.htm

Part of the presentation is a coloring book which is available for download as a PDF file here.
